Besides adding natural sweetness to these cookies, bananas also provide potassium. Potassium is vital for healthy blood pressure and regulating muscle contractions. So eat up those cookies!

  • 1/3 Cup Unsalted butter, softened

  • 1/2 Cup Granulated Sugar

  • 1 Large Egg, room temperature

  • 1/2 Cup Mashed Bananas, ripe

  • 3/4 teaspoon Vanilla extract

  • 1 1/4 Cups All-Purpose Flour

  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt

  • 1 teaspoon Baking Powder

  • 1/8 teaspoon Baking Soda

  • 1 Cup Semisweet Chocolate Chips


Preheat oven to 350 °F.

In a large bowl, add unsalted butter and sugar. Using a whisk, cream until mixture is light and fluffy. Keep whisking for about 5 minutes.

Whisk in egg, mashed bananas, and vanilla extract mixing until incorporated.

Add all-purpose flour, salt, baking powder, and baking soda to a second bowl. Mix well using a clean whisk.

Using a rubber spatula, fold the flour mixture into the egg mixture until there is no sign of flour left over. Be careful not to over mix as this will result in drier, less moist cookies.

Fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips.

Drop by tablespoon complete onto a parchment paper-lined baking sheet.

Bake for 12 to 15 minutes until golden brown.

Remove from oven, then place on a cooling rack or serve warm and enjoy. You may also want to try another cookie recipe like Sprinkle Sugar Cookies
