Tortillas are a versatile item to have at home. You quickly make a quick snack or meal in minutes. They're easily bought at the local markets. However, to keep them shelf-stable, most pre-made tortillas contain preservatives such as palm oil and glycerin (the key ingredient in liquid soap). Pre-made tortillas also contain added sugar and mono-glycerides from animal fats or vegetable oils that act as emulsifiers. The issue is that companies are not required to list whether this emulsifier is made from animal fats or vegetable oil, making these items unavailable for vegans or vegetarians.

A way around this is to make your own tortillas that will be tastier and give you peace of mind by knowing exactly what ingredients are in the food you're eating. These fantastic homemade Whole Wheat Wraps are easy to make using only four common ingredients. Whole wheat flour, olive oil, sea salt, and water. It's kneaded, portioned, rested, rolled, and cooked in a hot pan or skillet for a few minutes per side. Get creative by adding fresh herbs, spices, or different seasonings, such as everything bagel or smokey BBQ. They keep fresh in the fridge for one week or in the freezer for up to 6 months. Then, use them to make Fajitas, healthy pinwheels, and breakfast or lunch wraps using all your favorite ingredients. The options are endless.

Is a wrap healthier than a sandwich?

The nutritional values of 1 wrap or two slices of bread are essentially the same, as they're made of the same ingredients except for yeast in the bread.

Can I eat wraps on keto?

Wheat wraps cannot be eaten when following a keto diet. Instead, trye your wraps using almond, coconut, or keto flour instead of whole wheat flour. There's also the option to use lettuce or cheese as the wrap to make a low-carb version.
