Are you looking for an appetizer that does double duty as a kids' snack? These Keto Mozzarella Sticks are an excellent choice. They're golden and crispy on the exterior, and the inside is filled with gooey melt-in-your-mouth cheese. And they're restaurant-quality without all the carbs. One serving contains less than four grams of net carbs. Serve with low-carb ketchup or low-carb marinara sauce. 

Are mozzarella sticks OK on keto?

Traditional mozzarella sticks are not keto- friendly since they contain flour and breadcrumbs. Nevertheless, you can make keto mozzarella sticks by using keto- friendly substitutes. 


How do you make mozzarella sticks without bread crumbs?

You can use keto substitutes such as almond flour or pork rind panko instead of breadcrumbs.

  • 12 pieces Mozzarella String Cheese

  • 1 Large Egg

  • 2 tablespoons Coconut Flour

  • 1/2 cup Almond Flour

  • 2 teaspoons Italian Seasoning

  • 1/2 teaspoon Garlic Powder

  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt

  • 1/4 teaspoon Pepper


Using a pair of kitchen scissors, cut string cheese in half.

To a small mixing bowl, add egg, mixing well.

To a Ziploc freezer bag, add coconut flour, almond flour, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Shake well.

Dip a piece of string cheese in the beaten egg, then place in the Ziploc freezer bag, shaking well.

Repeat with the rest of the string cheese pieces.

Place in the freezer for one hour.

Preheat the oven to 400 °F and line a cookie sheet with aluminum foil.

Place the string cheese pieces on the lined cookie sheet.

Bake for 5 minutes, then flip and bake again for 3 minutes.

Serve with low-carb ketchup or low-carb marinara sauce.
