Not a big fan of okra? You will be there after making Grilled Okra. Because we're using a high-heat technique - grilling - to make this okra, the okra is golden and crispy and gets rid of the slime.

Now, okra also tends to get a bad rap because of its bland flavor. There's nothing bland about this recipe for Grilled Okra. That's because we used seasonings like cayenne pepper, smoked paprika, and garlic powder. So you have smokiness and heat.

But taste aside, this Grilled Okra is also quite nutritious. One serving provides 20% of your daily fiber needs and is a good source of calcium and potassium. Serve as is, or with our Vegan Tartar Sauce.

How do you know when okra is done?

Okra is done when it is tender and lightly charred.

How do you grill okra without slime?

To ensure your grilled okra isn't slimy, make sure your grill is hot before you place the okra on the grill. Also, don't overcrowd your okra on the grill. Another key thing to do is to thoroughly dry your okra after washing it. Using smaller okra pods also reduces the risk of slime.

Why do you rub okra with salt?

Rubbing okra with salt removes the fuzz from the pods. Removing the fuzz makes the okra more vibrant, and also softens the okra.

What is the best cooking technique for okra?

The best way to cook okra is by using high-heat cooking techniques like deep-frying, roasting, and grilling.
