What is wonton filling made of?

There are many kinds of wonton fillings. However, shrimp or pork are the most popular types of fillings. They may also be mixed with scallions, mushrooms, water chestnuts, or other vegetables.

Are chicken wontons healthy?

It depends on how the chicken wontons are cooked. Baked or steamed chicken wontons will be healthier than fried chicken wontons. • 1 tablespoon Yellow Mustard

  • 1/4 cup Teriyaki Sauce

  • 1/2 cup Sugar-Free Ketchup

Chicken Wontons
  • 1 pound Ground Chicken

  • 1 teaspoon Salt

  • 1/2 teaspoon Black Pepper

  • 2 Scallions, minced

  • 1 teaspoon Soy Sauce

  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced

  • 1 Shallot, minced

  • 1/2 teaspoon Sesame Seed Oil

  • 2 teaspoons Cornstarch

  • 1 package of Wonton Wrappers

  • 1/4 cup Water

  • 4 cups of Oil for frying

Instructions

Apricot Sauce

To a medium bowl, add the apricot preserves, mustard, teriyaki sauce, and sugar-free ketchup. Whisk until the sauce is smooth. Pour the apricot sauce into a small serving dish.

Chicken Wontons

To a large bowl, add the ground chicken, salt, black pepper, scallions, soy sauce, garlic, shallot, sesame seed oil, and cornstarch. Mix to combine.

Arrange a wonton wrapper on your countertop and add 1 teaspoon of the ground chicken mixture to the center of the wonton.

Using a brush, brush the edges of the wonton wrapper with a little water. Bring the middle of each of the four edges together and press the middle to seal the wonton. You should have a chicken wonton that looks like a Rangoon. You can also fold the wonton wrapper diagonally to create a triangular chicken wonton.

Continue filling and wrapping the wonton wrappers until all the chicken filling is gone.

To Fry The Chicken Wontons

In a deep skillet, add oil. Place it over medium-high heat and heat the oil to 350 °F. Carefully lower the wontons into the hot oil and fry them for 3-5 minutes until they are golden brown. Drain the wontons on a wire rack and continue cooking the chicken wontons until all of them have been fried.

To Bake The Chicken Wontons

Preheat the oven to 400 °F. Arrange the chicken wontons on a wire rack set over a rimmed baking sheet. Spray the chicken wontons with nonstick cooking spray and bake them for ten minutes until golden brown.

To Assemble

Place the chicken wontons onto a serving dish and serve with the apricot sauce or Dumpling Sauce
