Jalapeño Poppers are a smaller bite-sized version of Chiles Rellenos. In both dishes, the peppers are cored and filled with a seasoned cheese paste mixture, coated in breadcrumbs, and fried. With the Poppers, their size makes them easy to pop in your mouth and enjoy. This recipe takes the same great flavors we know and love but uses an air fryer to help reduce the fat from deep-frying. The cheese paste filling is a unique blend of creamy, nutty, salty, and well-seasoned goodness that compliments the spice of the Jalapeño pepper. We hope you enjoy our Jalapeño Popper recipe with your air fryer the next time you're feeling for a spicy, cheesy snack with some Pico de Gallo on the side.

Ingredients

12 Jalapeño Peppers
Pico de Gallo

Instructions

Preheat the air fryer at 375 °F/ 190 °C.
Using hand gloves, prepare the peppers by slicing off the top and using a pepper corer or a pairing knife scoop, scraping out the seeds and pith from inside each pepper.
Mix the cheeses, onion, garlic powder, paprika, salt & black pepper together in a small bowl to make a paste.
Scoop the cheese paste mixture into each pepper using a teaspoon, leaving a little space at the top.
Pack a pinch of breadcrumbs into the top to create a cork or plug of bread crumbs.
Beat the eggs placing them into a small dish and dip each pepper into it and then coat with arrowroot starch in a separate dish.
Now dip into the egg wash again and coat with breadcrumbs.
Arrange on the tray and place into the air fryer for 8-10 minutes or until golden brown.
Repeat with remaining peppers.
Serve warm with some Pico de Gallo and enjoy.
