Looking for a healthier alternative to McDonald's fish sandwiches? This fried fish sandwich is an excellent choice. Not only is it tasty, but it's better for you too. We dipped fish fillets in a mixture of bread crumbs and seasonings and then placed them in an air-fryer. This makes this fried fish recipe less greasy. We also made a homemade tartar sauce using mayonnaise, chopped dill pickles, Dijon mustard, and lime juice. So you get an excellent combination of heat, sour, and tanginess. We also added lettuce leaves and tomatoes to the sandwich for freshness. Serve with regular fries, Garden Salad, or our Air Fryer Sweet Potato Fries.

Fried Fish:
  • 4 White Fish Fillets such as Halibut (6 ounces each)

  • 1 tablespoon Olive Oil

  • 1 cup Bread Crumbs

  • 1/2 teaspoon Paprika

  • 1/4 teaspoon Garlic Powder

  • 1/4 teaspoon Onion Powder

  • 1/4 teaspoon Dill Weed

  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt

  • 1/4 teaspoon Pepper

Tartar Sauce:
  • 1/2 cup Mayonnaise

  • 1 Dill Pickle, finely chopped

  • 1/2 teaspoon Dijon Mustard

  • 1/2 teaspoon Lime Juice

  • 4 Burger Buns

  • 4 Lettuce Leaves

  • 1 Tomato, sliced


Fried Fish:

Place fish fillets in a bowl, and drizzle with olive oil, coating well.

To a dish, add breadcrumbs, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, dill weed, salt and pepper, mixing well.

Coat each fillet with the breadcrumb mixture.

Place the fillets in a single layer in the air fryer, and cook for 390 degrees Fahrenheit for 12 to 15 minutes, rotating halfway through.

Tartar Sauce:

While the fish is cooking, place the mayonnaise, dill pickle, Dijon mustard, and lime in a bowl. Mix well.


Place a burger bun half on a flat surface and layer with lettuce, tomatoes, fish fillet, and tartar sauce. Top with the other burger half. Repeat with the rest of the burger buns.

Serve with a side dish like oven-baked fries, Garden salad, or our Air Fryer Sweet Potato Fries.
