We want an easy dairy-free dip to enjoy with your veggies or crackers. This French Onion Dip Mix has it all; it's creamy, rich, and packed with flavor - you won't believe it doesn't contain dairy! To make it dairy-free, we substituted sour cream with cashew cream. This adds creaminess and nutrients such as heart-healthy fats, fiber, and bone-building minerals like magnesium and manganese. Feel free to serve our French Onion Dip Mix with fresh veggies, Keto Seed Crackers, or Air Fryer Sweet Potato Chips.

Traditionally, French onion dip is made from sour cream. But we substituted sour cream with cashew cream, making this recipe dairy-free. So it's suitable for those on vegan diets or those who have allergies or intolerances to dairy.

Ingredients

  • 3 medium Yellow Onions, finely diced

  • 2 tablespoons Olive Oil

  • 1 clove Garlic, crushed

  • 1 cup Raw Cashews

  • 1/2 cup Soy Milk, unsweetened

  • Juice of 1/2 a Lemon

  • 2 teaspoons Apple Cider Vinegar

  • 1/2 teaspoon Onion Powder

  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt

  • 1/4 teaspoon Pepper

  • Fresh Chives, coarsely chopped for garnish (Optional)

Instructions

To a large sauté pan over low-medium heat, add olive oil. Once hot, add onions. Cook for 10 to 12 minutes stirring occasionally, until onions become caramelized.

Cooked onions

Add garlic and sauté for 1 minute, stirring constantly to avoid it burning.  Let the onion mixture cool.

To a high-speed blender, add cashews, soy milk, lemon juice, apple cider vinegar, onion powder, salt, pepper, and cooled onion mixture. Blend until smooth.

Blending all the ingredients

Place on a serving platter and top with fresh chives. Enjoy!
